NSWCCC SPORT REGISTRATION
Marcellin boys have a history of excelling in sport both at school and when they leave. Many have represented at local, regional, state and national levels in their chosen field of endeavour.
All students at Marcellin participate in either the Thursday Internal Sport Program or one of our many representative teams in the Metropolitan Catholic Colleges (MCC) competition.
THURSDAY INTERNAL SPORT
The Sports program at the College has both internal and external competitions on Thursday afternoons. At school boys compete for one of the four Houses; ANSELM (Blue), BOWEN (Gold), FALLON (Green) and IGNATIUS (Red).
Year 7 internal sport takes place at Coral Sea Park, Chester Ave Maroubra. Normally games such as Touch Football, Cricket and Soccer are played amongst the House groups. Boys are dismissed each week from sport at 2:20pm and can make their way directly home from the park. Buses are also provided to return students to school if preferred. Buses usually return to the school by 2:30pm.
Students wear their sports uniform to and from school each Thursday. This is their blue College shorts, white College sports shirt and predominantly white or grey shoes with the College sports socks. Brightly coloured trim and laces are not permitted. If it is cold the boys may wear their College Tracksuit, not the College jumper. All boys must bring their House coloured T-shirt each Thursday, which they change into at sport for their activities.
Students are strongly encouraged to apply their own sunscreen before every outdoor activity. Sunscreen is not provided at the venues. Year 7 students must wear their College cap during any outdoor sporting event.
The sport program occurs on Thursday afternoons. The timetable for the day is as follows:
8.40am Bell - move to Homeroom
9.00am Period 1
9.50am Period 2
11.10am Period 3
12.30pm Internal Sport
Marcellin has a fine sporting tradition and has been part of the MCC competition for over 70 years. The MCC consists of eight Catholic secondary boys schools that compete in a variety of sports on Thursday afternoons. All boys are encouraged to share their talents and trial for our representative teams. Notification for trials is placed in the school daily notices and sports noticeboard, which is located under the Science labs. Boys who make representative teams must train with their team on Tuesday afternoons or, in the case of swimming, before school.
